I've been vaguely following the hero6 project for the past 6 years, but i had taken a little break recently.  When i visited the site today i discovered that the game world is called "Albion" this name has been used in several other games (FABLE MUCH?) as well as books and comic books.  Couldn't we have something a tad more original?

Albion's an old name for Great Britain, so there's nothing wrong with using that name. Plus, Hero6 will be using Celtic myths, which is why we're using Albion.

Yeah dude, it's the name of the country in King Lear. Don't they teach you kids anything in school these days?

LOL I SAW IT IN SOME GAME SO THAT MENZ U PPL STOLE IT!

Reminds me of a time I saw someone bashing Vampire the Masquerade because the Vampires there didn't respect the rules of Bram Stoker's "ORIGINAL" Vampires.

YES! FOR BRAM STOKER INVENTED VAMPIRES FOREVER!

I dunno, maybe we should rename the town to Albion8715 just to be on the original side. Wink

PS. I can relate to this controversy as I live in a town called Springville in RL.   Talk about thievery!

Aren't there like 11 Springfields in the US? That being why the Simpsons are never more than a three hour drive away from anywhere.

Hmm, just about the response I respected.  I'm perfectly aware of what Albion is, and I was in King Lear.  I just think that it's annoying to hear the same titles over and over again, even if they are legitamite names.   I don't think they stole it (It's not like Fable was a good game).  Anyway, you people don't need to react to a simple observation with an attack on someone's intelligence.

"you people??"  What are you implying about hero6ers?   that we're a special breed???    dry

Honestly, I didn't even know that albion was a popular town name until you brought it up, and I've been with the project since the start!

We were just giving you a hard time because we like to be silly sometimes.  And, who cares if the town name isn't original?  It's been named such since the start, and changing it now would be madness!

Your post implied that we "stole" the name from those other games and comics, so I suppose that could be why some people responded that way. Not saying that you did make any accusations, but that was how it looked to some.

As the saying goes dude, ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.

I think everyone can afford to be nicer to each other, even if people are just being silly or something. How about that, hmm?

Anyway, thanks for your concern, Alex. The Plot team will look into your suggestion.

This project started in about 1999. Fable was released in '04. While I have a great degree of respect for the team, I don't think they have mastered the use of the Crystal Ball yet.
