Taffy and Taffer sound a lot alike. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

Ahhh Oblivion, I've been following it's progress for about a year now. I recently spent $1500 upgrading my computer just in preperation for Oblivion. I'm not kidding, I've been so excited about it I made sure I had a top-of the line comptuer so that I could max every performace setting on the game. Even bought surround sound speakers. Unforunately, now it looks like April before we can play. You see, they officially announced it was pushed back until their companies second quarter. The game is already done, but I guess during the first quarter, their profits have sucked. Releasing the game now would only bring their profits to slightly above average. It's better for them on paper and in the market to show a horrible quarter, followed by their best quarter ever. Their playing a financial game of thier own, and using Oblivion as the tool. They know it'll sell millions of copies, they are just sitting on it until it's best for them to release it. We'll have to be patient and play D&D Online until then.. (DDO should be out in a month or so I believe)

Not too sure DDO is gonna be worth it, having seen their foray into RTS.

EDIT: Well, maybe.  Gonna have to get some in-game footage.

As a student April looks like a better date.  I know I'm not going to have the time for the game until around then.

As a student I was going to fail school. Smiley Oblivion was originally set to release the day my finals start this semester. I would have flunked all my tests. Still wish I had it sooner though.

Also, DDO wasn't made by the same people who tried to do the RTS's. It looks like they did a good job.

I got that newsletter too.
The thing that impressed me the most was actually the way they have gotten the alpha-channel (selective transparency) textures to draw properly even at a very far distance.  Look at the first screenshot of the boats with the rope riggings and rope ladders out in the distance.  Then look at the fences in this screenshot from Call of Duty: http://honorguard.uberclan.com/reish/proje..._treatment5.jpg

The graphics in these games are just getting more and more amazing! I thought Morrowind looked pretty good when it first came out, then looking at the Oblivion screens just blows Morrowind away. Hopefully all the time invested in the graphics doesn't take away from the story.

Um, riesh... look closer. I dont think that is an alpha channel. I think that is an actual model of a rope. (That would be sweet)
