I'm a programmer that's totally interested in joining up with the team.  Is it necessary to show off some of my work on the forums to up my chances?  Code is a whole other entity from art so I figured it wouldn't make much sense pinning it in the application.

Well, it's not needed to show your work in this forum (because most of the team members don't check out this forum regularly). You can fill in an application form here, and show your work to Daemious when/if he contacts you about your application.

Out of curiosity, what programming languages do you know?

A handful.  About 2 years ago I started up with PHP so I could maintain a handmade blog and keep my hands dirty with coding, but I've done extensive C/C++, Java, VB, C#, a good bit of Python.  A few months ago I started messing around with Lua because I got into the World of Warcraft thing, and lately I've been messing some more with Unrealscript just for kicks.  I'm 21 now, and I started coding when I was about 10 so there's tons I've picked up over the years, then dropped.

You seem like a pretty good fit to me.  We'll have to talk to daems.  He's the brainchild behind our engine.

But if anything, we could get you access to the hero6.com member site and fix it up (if you're interested).  It's in PHP.
