So how would that constitue a change in location? If the orbit does not appreciably change, even if the thing is constantly in motion, if the earth's location is something you can predict with pure mathematics it doesn't exactly seem to be going anywhere.

well, the star around which the Earth is orbiting is also moving around the center of the galaxy which in turn seems to be moving away from the center of the universe, so the orbit is moving too, but it's still highly predictable. And, on a slightly smaller scale, the Earth is also spinning on it's axis

Yeah, but I don't think our star has orbited around the center of the galaxy just yet. ######, it's like, 300 Earth Years for Pluto to make an orbit around the Sun. Imagine how far away the Galaxy's core is.
