It seems to me that putting them in Darkness would simply make them formless. Gaseous. They'd be unharmable and untouchable, but at the same time, they have no form to do anything.

Think of  them as solar powered. the shadows derive all strength and  sustenance from whatever light source is availiable. without light, they end  up  like a  goldfish that hasn't been fed for a week.

But then why does Light-emitting weaponry, like Torches, harm them?

I'm not  sure torches  would. I think  it's how focused the light is. honnestly I can't rreally claim to know all the logic behind them, I didn't crreate the idea.

Sorry about the double post, but I have an idea for a monster.

Uruloki, or Fire Drakes. Little dragons, like the ones you occasionally encounter in QfG5. Maybe about as tough as a QfG1 Troll, or so, but they can attack from a distance with fire breath. Sure, the name isn't entirely original, nor is the monster, but it's still cool.
