1  The Hero6 Project / Hero6 Discussion / Re: Some idle observations on: December 22, 2007, 04:37:55 AM
Hey Cash, welcome to the forums.

My initial instinct is that Hero6 is not a suitable project for conversion to 3d. Although it does have a following which could be used for success as an indie for-profit 3d game, the community spirit and oldskool 2d graphics are an integral part of what it is. To do anything else with that would break the spirit of it and make an entirely different project.

I hold out hope for Hero6 out of sheer stubbornness sometimes, but sometimes I think that might be enough to turn things around.

Now, if you're interested in making NEW adventure games which blend certain aspects of the spirit of QFG and more modern gameplay and graphics/physics technology, I'd love to discuss the possibility of working with you in the future.

What is the engine you're using?

Ok, that's weirding me out. blink blink blink blink blink

Swift, this is why I blocked registration of certain character names at Herocia. Forgot to do that here.

New Silevran... hi, welcome, whoa this is weird...

Story-intensive games are harder to make than action-intensive games. It's partly that in the medium of interactive experiences, it's easier to write interaction if there isn't too much story.

It's just a pity about IPB not having a free version anymore. It's way better than SMF.

9  The Hero6 Project / Hero6 Discussion / Haven't received a response to my application... on: January 25, 2006, 02:05:07 PM
Ianfe's pretty good about responding to communication so I'm sure you'll have your application dealt with much faster now.

Good luck, Luke!

11  The Hero6 Project / Offtopic Mayhem / Do you play sports? Do you really like any sports? on: November 22, 2005, 01:13:58 AM
I have to agree that watching sports on tv is rather boring. Basketball is ok, it's fast-paced enough usually. Baseball is much more fun to play than to watch. Don't even get me started on the boringness of hockey!

I prefer local fun play rather than competitive or school play though - pickup pond hockey, now that's fun!

Also like volleyball, dancing, sailing, gymnastics. Wanted to learn karate but never really did. I need to get back into all that though.

As for feeling deeply... yes, I do. Loving sports has nothing to do with that. The human body was meant to move just as much as it was meant to feel music or imagine scenes while reading books.
12  The Hero6 Project / Official Hero6 News / One final update on: November 17, 2005, 06:08:39 PM
Technically, I resigned on November 21 last year, just nobody bothered to replace me until now. I guess they were all too busy.

I'm very glad to see that Ianfe is stepping up to the mark, it gives me hope that the project can actually be placed on track.

Yes, I don't know if my computer will be ok with it.

Luke, good to see you! What happened to your project?
15  The Hero6 Project / Offtopic Mayhem / KQIX Project Shut Down on: October 13, 2005, 09:34:44 PM
Gron, I think the topic morph to discussing cease and desist letters in general was allowable under the circumstances. It's natural for people to be concerned about the results of such a letter on other projects and on Hero6.

However the insults were not allowable, and I hope they have been addressed.

So, back to KQ9's closing. It's a real pity, especially after the trailer. Although the meshes for the women looked rather odd in the chest area, it was animated and voiced very professionally, and the music supported what was going on in the trailer.

I hope that the KQ9 team can reach an agreement with Vivendi that will allow them to finish and publish their game, whether for free or as a paid download profiting Vivendi. From the quality of the trailer, I'd be happy to buy it.

I also hope that the people writing letters to Vivendi over this issue remember to bring up the issue that a project such as KQ9 would only improve Vivendi's reputation as a game publisher, and could improve their bottom line.
