The Hero6 Project / Hero6 Discussion / Re: Ideas to get this started again...

Hello everyone I notice that this project is long dead but I've decided to post. I held out hope to the very end, but in the last year or so I've realized that the end is near and I accept that this project is deceased. This is my eulogy. I've been involved in Hero6 for a long time, as a fan rather than as a developer. Well I did try my hand at developing but that didn't work out too well. I've seen it evolve over many years, it was an excellent project and it's a shame that it was never finished. Over the years there was lots of passion and enthusiasm and with better management, maybe this project could have been finished. Not that I want to point fingers, managing a massive volunteer team of this size is no easy task. The AGS community has shown it's power, and small, insanely devoted teams have accomplished some amazing things. KQ1VGA, KQ2VGA+, QFG2VGA, Al Emmo, KQ3VGA, ATOTK and soon SQ2VGA(yes IA is that awesome I know they'll get it done). Not to mention the numerous short but good quality AGS games that are frequently being made. Hero6 had a burden bigger than any of these projects and it's no wonder it failed. It's actually quite a shame that no one has managed to make an original QFG inspired game yet(not a remake). I remember other projects like SFLAH, Destiny, Hero of Odarin. Of these games it's a real shame that Destiny was never completed, it looked like it would have made an amazing game. There is actually one last hope, Corby is working on Heroine's Quest and that one has been around for awhile. I originally thought it would fail, since the project seemed to be stalling and I've grown so jaded over the years. But Corby is still alive and kicking and I have a little more respect for him now due to his tenacity. Go Corby! http://www.bigbluecup.com/yabb/index.php?topic=38124.

I pop in and take a look sometimes and I always see the same thing: A spooky graveyard. Oh sure there is probably some secret Necromancer's lair nearby, but on the outside it's silent. Really Hero6 isn't THAT slow compared to other teams working on large scale fangames(especially since it's the most expansive game of all). Sure we have ATOTK now, but that's about it. Still no SQ2VGA, Project X, QFG2VGA, TSL Episode 1, SQ fangames etc. Now once a few of these get knocked off the to-do list, then I'll jump on the Hero6 is a joke bandwagon. Oh and Hero6 gets brownie points for being the only QFG inspired game still breathing.

The Hero6 Project / Official Hero6 News / Re: New Press Release

You said it man. I hate game projects that take themselves too seriously. Anyone with an interest and enough time can make an adventure game now days. Issuing "press releases" just makes you sound self conceited and special. Truth is, we're just a bunch of geeks that want to make a "quest for glory"ish adventure game. I don't know why anyone would see the need to trumpet on about any specific member's abilities to the visitors.
The problem with projects and open memberships, is that you get a wide variety of different people who have different ideas about how things should be done. The "creative dictator" who wrote that press release was booted from the team some months ago. I feel like we've come back down to earth now that he's gone, but I think the project has never been in such a disarray. There is virtually NO public communication between the team anymore (the member's site is no longer used). At the same time, work is definitely being done by some dedicated members... that work is shared privately now between select few over IM. I'm surprised to hear you guys booted Servant. I didn't feel there was anything wrong with his press release though. It seemed very professional and corporate and that seemed appropriate considering Servant's background. Rather than thinking he was conceited I thought "wow this guy means business and is really going to get this project going". Sadly, I was wrong though. I gotta give you credit Phattie, you've been with this project for a long time and you still haven't given up that is very cool.

Servant, I think you'll make an excellent project leader, your qualifications are really impressive. The team is now undergoing restructuring and their untitled game is being reworked from the ground up. So I'm wondering about what you mean by reworked, could you describe your plans for the game more in-detail or is that info off-limits to visitors? Oh and why is the game untitled? Isn't Hero6 good enough?

It's not that I'm really trying to cause trouble for you, Silverbolt, I'd never do such a thing.
Lazygamer, the last screenshot in that thread was 10 months ago.
Yes, but what I wanted to emphasize is that the team was quite far into alpha status 10 months ago.

Good grief, you've got a more or less operational Alpha, right? So take a couple screenshots and show us what you can do. I'm sure you can capture some fat mayor or something. I mean, for all the information we're getting, it looks like Hero6 is dead.
Look under http://visitors.hero6.com/forums/index.php?topic=665.0Daemious released alpha version 14 in early January, complete with updated content from Art, Plot and Music as well as bug fixes. The demo looks fantastic. Don’t believe me? Ask Yuri or The Guy then. Both of them have been play-testing the demo, looking for bugs to compile in the demo report. What I'm really curious about is whether the H6 team is close to in house beta testing, or if they are still a long ways off from it.

This website and the forums has ALOT of history, which you could relive at archive.org if you are wondering what you missed. Lol I'm suprised you've never heard of the big H6, yet you probably know about AGDI, IA, POS and that Yahtzee fellow.
