This is a definite, "My god, it's full of stars," moment. This engine was designed by 3 guys on a shoestring budget. Title: Project Offset Post by: Corsair5 on December 20, 2005, 02:43:49 AM Dang. Just...dang.
Title: Project Offset Post by: Ignus_Draconus on December 21, 2005, 03:21:12 AM that is Very impressive
Title: Project Offset Post by: Reish Vedaur on December 21, 2005, 04:39:36 AM Apparently, their previous works include the Savage series. If you haven't played Savage before, it's a high-ish fantasy setting combination real-time strategy and first-person shooter. One player signs up as the Commander, and (remember, this is 2 or 3 years before Battlefield 2) he orders the workers to collect ores or gold, and to construct new buildings, and order the buildings to make new weapons and classes for the grunts. He also can hand out bonuses to certain grunts and give them orders (highlighted locations via a big bright green light from above). The grunts are all the other players, and they buy their weapons and which class they are and whether or not they control a seige weapon (ballista or catapult). It all plays out VERY well, and it's VERY innovative.
And so for them this kind of innovation just seems par for the course. I'm going to love it when it gets finished (which probably won't be for quite a while). Title: Project Offset Post by: Charles on December 26, 2005, 07:29:56 PM *squints*
looks amazing Title: Project Offset Post by: Reish Vedaur on January 16, 2006, 06:25:50 AM They have a new, short, 15mb high-res movie up on the Tech page of their site, showing how the engine is able to create random color and random height models of hundreds of goblins running through the scene, as well as the many ways you can kill them with the crossbow lol.
