HD-DVD is teh best, down with Blue-Ray! :P

In other words, I'll go with the Xbox(though HD-DVD is not definite, as far as I know). ;)

hmm... though I wouldn't mind more info on Nintendo's next console.  

I like xbox over playstation 2, but I have to admit that playstation 3 is better than the xbox 360.

Blue ray is much better than HD-DVD... it holds twice as much data (with the possibility of holding up to 200 gigs--using 8 layering techniques), and it's also much much faster.

Also, playstation 3 is twice as fast in processing power... 2 teraflops as opposed to 1 which the xbox sports.

The only thing xbox has over playstation3 is the wireless controllers...

In my case, it's simply a matter of wanting an HD-DVD console to exist, not so much which one I'd prefer to have in my gaming  system( I don't plan to buy either of them, at any point in time ).

Also, as far as what you've said about the storage of Blue-Ray goes, it's correct. Although it lacks the ability to use the newer mpeg format, which results in the HD-DVD being just as good(if not better) as a replacement for DVD( which is what I'm hoping replaces DVD  ;) ). Considering the cost to completely rework manufacturing in order to produce Blue-Ray, instead of HD-DVD, I'm sticking with HD-DVD as my prefered optical-drive format( and I prefer the companies involved to recieve my money B) ).

and I may agree with you, that the PS3 is better(as far as hardware goes), but only time will tell which is the better console(and that will most likely be a matter of opinion :P ).

and since, like I said, I don't care too highly for either console(just trying to throw our off-topic discussion into a proper thread), I think I'll just go back to lurking in the shadows. ;)

PS3 has wireless controllers.
XBox360 uses regular dual-layer DVDs not HD-DVDs.

XBOX 360 wins because they get the 2006 RPG of the Year. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Radiant AI. That alone will win it game of the year.

I doubt it. Xbox is a horrid console, and I don't have much faith in it's successor. :glare:

Still, Nintendo has Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Metriod, and all the other series. Plus, they'll be starting more new series on Rev. B)  

How is XBOX a horrid console? I'll grant you, the original controllers are enormous, but the S controllers are fine. At least they don't have the controllers that PS2 has, which are miniscule.

Yeah, it has all that, but unfortunately, that's about it right now (that and Pokemon *shudder), and they're starting to get a little tired. It's easy to over-do a series when that's all you rely on to carry your system. And what if the unthinkable happens and those series have a flop? Then the whole platform would be sunk.
As for new series, I know they'll have them. Same as Sony and Microsoft will. They have to have something else.
What I've heard from them does sound promising, though, if they can deliver.

They haven't made a very good zelda game since Ocarina of Time. And that one pales in comparison to A Link to the Past. Metroid Prime was cool, though. But Mario series has been effectively dead ever since they stopped making them platformers.

And what the heck is with Mario Golf?

I've never played any Kirby games. Never had a method to do so.

Hey, what are the Oracle games and MM, chopped liver? I haven't played much of WW, but it was a good game from what I've played.
I wouldn't say dead. Sure, he's mostly appearing in spinoffs and sports games, (Which I admit, I think they're overdoing a little) but there have been real games out (Paper Mario 2) and there's a new platformer coming out on DS.

Well, it takes alot more to get me excited about a game then graphics. I mean, I still play games from the NES! :P

Oblivion certainly does have amazing graphics, but awesome AI? I don't put any faith in game previews. There is such a thing as a mind numbing RPG too.

Did you ever play Morrowind? Well, each of the Elder Scrolls games have consistently won awards. For example, Morrowind, the most recent, was, I believe, Game of the Year. Bethesda never failed me before.

Not bad. Really good, in fact. But not the same style as Oblivion, and I think Oblivion's is better.

So then you admit that it's simply personal opinion, as opposed to better tech, which is keeping you from saying that Unreal Engine 3 beats Oblivian.

I like the new Zeldas. I do. But it seems like they're starting to run together. The story seems to be getting pretty tired: get the Triforce from Gannon and save Princess Zelda. Wow, like we haven't done that a billion times before. EVen the whole Light World/Dark World thing is starting to lose its appeal to me.
That's why I like Majora's Mask so much. None of that is there, which makes the story come alive. And they still have that Zelda feel to the game in general. I want to see more Zeldas that do that, forget the triforce and Ganon, and concentrate on new adventures.

I'm 3 years older then that system. And I wouldn't have survived without it. I still have mine and play it.

I'll be honest with you. Unreal 3's graphics are incredible. But I think Oblivions are just as good. Maybe it's because I can actually tell what I'm looking at, rather than a confused pile of corpses and rubber hoses.  

Ahhh Zelda... Ocarina of Time ruled the most, IMHO.

Frankly, though, I haven't played console any more in quite a long time. Guess I don't have the energy to do so. If it can't be ported to my faithful pc, I can't be bothered.

Frankly, I've sacrificed a lot for my career (Hero6 included, I barely participate nowadays), but I think I've made the right choices. I do miss the carefree college days, though, like heck.

Yeah! Halo 3 and the Elder Scrolls for the win!

Bah... Morrowind was cool on the Xbox, but the computer version was better because you go the expansion packs, which kicked butt.  As long as you had a good graphics card, you were set.  :)

True. TES was better for Compy, but i'd rather have one Elder Scrolls than all the FF games ever made.
