By the way, its a QFG1 poll. Sorry, but no Katrina. Title: If you could have... Post by: Pwincess on September 15, 2004, 06:45:14 AM I'd play Pwincess Elsa :D

I'd *have* to be Karl. Title: If you could have... Post by: Swift on September 18, 2004, 05:04:45 AM I can't remember if Karl is a character in the QFG series. Who's Karl?
Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 18, 2004, 12:04:25 PM I think Karl is that guard who opens the gate for you.

Title: If you could have... Post by: Kailkay on September 22, 2004, 06:02:14 AM Phah, weakling mage.
Nothing makes up for a good, big, heavy, shiney sword. Sharp metal thingy has to stick into soft fleshy thingy for it to work. What could be simpler? Title: If you could have... Post by: Swift on September 22, 2004, 06:38:59 AM Quote Phah, weakling mage. Spoken like a true fighter. Nothing makes up for a good, big, heavy, shiney sword. Sharp metal thingy has to stick into soft fleshy thingy for it to work. What could be simpler? Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on September 22, 2004, 10:23:03 AM I think we've had this argument before.
Swords have their advantages. Any village dimwit can understand the basics: "blunt end goes in your hand, sharp end goes in the enemy." Just because magic is more subtle though, doesn't make it any less useful. Depending on your level of skill, of course. Beginner mages are often worse off than beginner fighters. Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 22, 2004, 04:19:32 PM I always kind of prefered magic, though swords are fun also.
Title: If you could have... Post by: pyro on September 23, 2004, 07:00:04 AM ofcourse if you find your self in a real life situation a sword would be far more effective.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on September 23, 2004, 10:20:22 AM Real life? I think a gun would be better there. Or since in real life you don't walk through monster infested woods every day, why not just avoid the need to kill things?
Title: If you could have... Post by: Kailkay on September 24, 2004, 04:15:27 AM Young Mages will not make it into being the older, more skilled mages, since we fighters tend to weed them out.
We let only exceptional peoples such as Brassie and Swift maintain living-ness. OC... you have yet to prove yourself. *pats big, spike filled club* I'll be waiting. Right over there. When you're ready. Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 24, 2004, 04:17:16 AM Go get 'em OC!
Title: If you could have... Post by: Swift on September 24, 2004, 04:29:06 AM Ooh, Kailkay vs Outchanter!
Place your bets, everyone! *grabs popcorn and starts munching* Title: If you could have... Post by: pyro on September 24, 2004, 04:54:06 AM Quote Real life? I think a gun would be better there. Or since in real life you don't walk through monster infested woods every day, why not just avoid the need to kill things? Oh I just assumed we were in a timezone when guns wern't invented yet, but guns are more science I guess and these days science and magic are pretty much the same thing so, I guess that give magic the advantage again. Man whats wrong with me one day I support fighters the next mages, how do i know which one is right? who said I don't walk around monster infested woods have you ever drunk a bottle of absinth s/p and walked through the woods, a sword sure would have helped me then. Oh and I place my bet on KailKay at 3:1 in his favour. Title: If you could have... Post by: Kailkay on September 25, 2004, 05:52:27 AM *Thumps his staff hard on the ground. Everything changes; They are now in the middle of an ancient roman colloseum, surrounded by thousands of screaming fans, all desiring the spilling of blood.
Kailkay is no longer in usual robes and cloak; He is now in a bronze breatplate, with a heavy arm-guard on his one arm and a weighted mercurial gladius in the other. His horse-hair helm glints in the stark light, and his leather leggings creak as he fixes himself for battle, ever wondering when OC shall be prepared for this, his final test.* Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on September 25, 2004, 09:49:20 PM *appears a safe distance from KLK, ready to translocate should the other try anything tricksy before the contest starts*
Right, but before we can do anything like this, what're the rules? Title: If you could have... Post by: Kailkay on September 27, 2004, 01:25:57 AM No biting.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 27, 2004, 03:04:08 AM No biting, pinching, tickling, noogies, wedgies, or getting "super".
Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on September 27, 2004, 07:15:46 PM *sighs* being super is kind of part of being a wizard. If this is to be a test of skill, I assume you want it to involve more than just writing 'Kailkay turns into a dustbin and Outchanter wins.' How exactly then am I to be tested?
Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 28, 2004, 01:59:08 AM I don't know. Why doncha play Calvinball or something.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Kailkay on September 28, 2004, 06:22:34 AM Excellent idea. I'm in the victory quadrent, so I win.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 28, 2004, 06:23:40 AM But I touched the pole of reversal, so you lose.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Kailkay on September 28, 2004, 09:29:20 AM Ah but the pole of reversal is in the Pole of North zone, so all poles are actually north poles. Therefore I win.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on September 28, 2004, 09:50:20 AM But the geographic north pole is really a magnetic south pole. You lose.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 28, 2004, 10:46:11 AM Oh yeah? *Hits everyone with the Calvinball*
The score is now Oogy to Boogy! Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on September 28, 2004, 12:38:24 PM Which means I win :D
*a new robe appears next to OC, signalling his advancement to the next level of magehood* A yellow robe? I mean really, a yellow robe? I want my money back. Title: If you could have... Post by: Swift on September 28, 2004, 12:40:55 PM Congrats, OC.
What does a yellow robe mean in terms of rank? Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on September 28, 2004, 12:53:52 PM I dunno, but it's an awful shade  I think I'll stick to my usual clothes for now.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Kailkay on September 28, 2004, 02:01:03 PM Sigh. Another mage not fit to live goin' on and... well... livin'.
Stupid wizards. I see some class-based cleansing about to happen. Aaand, yep. Look, see how the wizards and sorcerers have to fend for themselves against the fighters, rangers, paladins, barbarians, rogues, bards (whom have sworn never again to use magic)? It's sad, really. A nation divided against itself cannot stand. Nor sit up. Not very well, anyway, without swaying, a hunch at the shoulders... Title: If you could have... Post by: Swift on September 28, 2004, 02:19:55 PM Quote Look, see how the wizards and sorcerers have to fend for themselves against the fighters, rangers, paladins, barbarians, rogues, bards (whom have sworn never again to use magic)? That's not true! There'll always be bards who'll use magic, so says I , a fellow bard and paladin. And paladins never fight against anyone who's on the side of good. Title: If you could have... Post by: Guest_Dreamer on September 28, 2004, 06:02:55 PM Yorick!!!
Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on September 28, 2004, 08:28:43 PM *hides away his oboe before anyone can see it* yep, although bards have to be careful. Some of these barbarian-warrior types appreciate music less than magic.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 29, 2004, 01:41:15 AM They just have bad taste.

Thus, a Bard/Paladin is a walking paradox, both in D&D allignment terms, and in total good vs. not-good practicality. 'Sides, you've heard that whole 'music soothes the savage beast' garbage? Totally preposterous, unless you run around bashing holes in monsters with musical instruments. 'Cept my trumpet. You melt my trumpet down into a sword for effective use. Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 30, 2004, 04:20:00 AM What exactly do you have against magicians? Was there some sort of terrible incident in your past? Or maybe you're jealous?

Oh yes, you can't conclude that a Bard/Paladin is a walking paradox just because "no magicians are good. Only warriors are good". That makes no sense, as Jafar pointed out. How did you jump to the walking paradox conclusion from talking about wizards and fighters? Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 30, 2004, 05:04:18 AM When did Bards come into the conversation anyway?

Post by: Outchanter on September 30, 2004, 11:20:19 AM Come on, if I were an evil magician I'd be teleporting Kailkay to a tiny island in the middle of a lake of lava right now.
Come to think of it <_< that's not such a bad idea... Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on September 30, 2004, 05:21:08 PM Hey, don't start getting ideas.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Kailkay on October 01, 2004, 12:22:36 AM Quote What exactly do you have against magicians? Was there some sort of terrible incident in your past? Or maybe you're jealous? I'd really rather not talk about that... >.> Lots of bad, evil things have happened to rugged young me in the past, and that is something that shall never be spake of. Ever. Quote So I take it that you consider both Brassfire (bardic mage) and I (bardic priestess) to be "walking paradoxes", huh? Well, you are sadly mistaken, but I suppose I can't stop you from thinking that way, since clearly some people are incapable of not stereotyping others. Now you see, Bards are harder to classify since they dip a bit into everything. So I have to make a few points out of everything here, and try to claw a bit of sense out of everything. A bard whom uses their music and other inate abilities to create magic harmonious in nature to the spirits of anything = Tolerable. A bard whom uses magic from another source (Divine or Arcane) gained either studiously or through acts of clergy and prayer to divinity = Blasphemous, sacreligious and badness to all that is the warrior faith of Man. Don't get started on Elf. Or Fay-Halfdragon-Man. Such people should be clubbed down when they're young anyways. Quote Quote Thus, a Bard/Paladin is a walking paradox, both in D&D allignment terms, and in total good vs. not-good practicality. That sounds pretty illogical to me. I draw you to the conclusion that a Paladin must retain the ever lawful good faith, whilst a bard can be all *but* lawful. Strictly in D&D terms. In total, overall, it's just a bad combination that can lead to nothing but a failed character. Quote Oh yes, you can't conclude that a Bard/Paladin is a walking paradox just because "no magicians are good. Only warriors are good". That makes no sense, as Jafar pointed out. How did you jump to the walking paradox conclusion from talking about wizards and fighters? Let me rephrase myself, as that was born purely out of incompetence and a sheer, complete fervor. No Magician is good. All Warriors are good. However, warriors tainted by taking active participation in a career of magic outside their own warrior-path career are tainted and thus no longer 'good'. Paladins and Rangers withhold magic-casting abilities based on their experiences either working for the cause of good, or the cause of nature, and are both thus exempt from this ruling. We *do* need healers anyways. Mages shall be tested for the right to exist. Those failing shall be either forced to resign from their studious career, or else cut down straight away, while priests shall retain to heal our wounded after this conflict, and then they, themselves shall be sent to work in concentration camps, making armor and big, shiney sticks for us warriors to beat each other around with. So Sayeth Keven. So Sayeth the LORD. And finally... Quote Come on, if I were an evil magician I'd be teleporting Kailkay to a tiny island in the middle of a lake of lava right now. Come to think of it that's not such a bad idea... Bahahaha. Try your worst, little man. I'll use my fighter-ness to fly over the lava. Then I'll hunt you down and knife you. Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on October 01, 2004, 08:13:39 AM  flying is an obviously arcane ability. If you used that, you'd become a mage, you wouldn't be able to live with yourself, and then what would you do?
Besides, I can't put you into a mortally dangerous situation just because you're being stupid. If people went around doing that ... well, I leave the effects on world population to your imagination. Since all this is based on some unfortunate happening in your past ... I suggest you go for Family Therapy. And since your family doesn't seem to be on these forums ... we'll be your Family :D *goes off to find a therapist* Title: If you could have... Excellent, Pyro. I'll be around shortly. And just to clarify, My sword named 'Icebolt', and my Staff named... Staff. Title: If you could have... Post by: pyro on October 02, 2004, 04:24:17 AM I see your point, it wasn't intended that way sorry KLK just couldn't be bothered debating with everything you just said.
Anyway: magicians = good fighters = good paladins = good theives = not good except the ones that fight on the side of good And when your banging helmits together, clanging swords, beating clubs are you not producing the glorious music of battle making you a bard of some description. Title: If you could have... Post by: Kailkay on October 02, 2004, 05:31:46 AM No, you're producing death to your enemies. Far different.
Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on October 02, 2004, 01:23:17 PM *looks pained* please do not confuse music with noise.
Hmm, so it's fashionable to name one's weapons? *pulls out a name book* let's see ... I could call my wand 'Wendy', my boots 'Bob' and 'Murgentrude', my belt of magicness 'Brian', my hat 'Robert the Red'... *starts getting beaten up by his wand, his hat and his boots (Bob and Murgentrude...)* Ok ok guys, I was just joking! :( Now I feel dumb. Thanks a bunch guys! Title: If you could have... Post by: Outchanter on October 02, 2004, 08:18:10 PM *mutters to his wand* no, I don't think Icebolt wants to be friends with you. No, you're a wand, it's a sword - trust me, it'd never work.
Title: If you could have... Post by: pyro on October 02, 2004, 09:19:47 PM I have no weapons :( sobs
Outchanter: If you compared my music ability to a battle scene you'd see my point. Im sure someone with enough skill could make music out of battle sounds. Title: If you could have... Post by: Jafar on October 03, 2004, 05:28:22 AM Don't worry Pyro, I'll get you something.

*pulls a pigeon from his sleeve, watches it flap away and bows* Title: If you could have... Post by: Lord_Bierhoff on October 17, 2004, 06:20:34 PM nice, but check this out *Bierhoff pulls several cut peices of wood from his back pocket, which he places on the ground. He then pulls out his waterskin and pours some of the brown liquid on the wood. Then he reaches into his left knee pocket and pulls out a bag of chopped peppers. From his right pocket he produced pork cubes. Finally he pulls a handful of skewers from his back pocket. Bierhoff deftly arranges the food on the skewers. Once the kubobs are ready he pulls a book of matches from his cellphone pockets. He strikes a match and tosses it on the wood. There is a flash of blue flash followed by the warm yellow glow of fire. Bierhoff holds the kubobs over the fire*
