Title: Dialogue
Post by: Corsair5 on February 09, 2005, 06:17:41 PM
How is Dialogue currently handled? Will it be QFG 1vga/3 style (Portraits talking) 4's style (A full picture of them talking) 5's, where a small portrait moves it's tiny lips, or like QfG1Ega and 2, where text just pops up on the screen, with no portrait or anything accompanying?

the demo had a four-ish look.

And that's how it still is.

Yes! That was the best one!

I think I agree with you there

Thats what happens when you become a Mod. You start enforcing rules instead of breaking them. :winktongue:

So, the game has a QG4 style? Sounds cool. B)

Yes, Dread Mistress.

I checked the Waterfall demo, it looks more like large QFG3 or 1 portraits to me than the 4 style, which took you two a whole new screen.

I think the forest demo had the QG4 style.

Ah. Well, I can't access the Forest Demo so

I've played the alpha demo, so let me just assure you that it's done in QG 4 style. Not just that, but all the dialogue pics I've seen so far are breathtaking.

I knew they would be. Thanks for alleviating my suspicions.

The dialogue screen is a menu of dialogue options next to a portrait of the character that has animated eyes and mouth. When you pick an option, a window comes up with the dialogue and when it's done it goes back to the menu.

I haven't played all the QFG games so I can't compare it, but I think the dialogue screen is done really well.

yeah, that helps.

anyway, is it just me, or is the final version of Flight of the Tuatha a little choppy

Technically, you're off-topic, Iggy, but since it's on Hero6, I'll allow it.

That music piece sounds ok to me. I didn't hear any choppiness.

It's one of my favourites!

mine too. I just realized that the choppiness is inherent in the computer I normally use, not the music itsself

So, will all the characters have voices, or only the "main" ones?

I don't know. It's not even decided if we'll have voices in the game to begin with.

It should, if you can find enough voices. and if the programers don't rebel

I say they finish the game without voices at first, then either Hero6 or a third party creates a voice pack.

Good idea. But Hero6 would still need to find voice content (if not talent).

And there still has to be a genuine interest in the voice pack.

But about the voices: would we want a narrator? And who would it be if so?

Ooh! Ooh! Me!

Post by: Paladin0707077 on March 10, 2005, 06:10:57 AM
Well, actually, what I meant was: what kind of narrator are we looking for? One of QFG4 style? Or something else?

QfG4 style narrator was awesome.

Yeah, but will it fit this particular game...?

Well, if we ever come to that stage, and if we really want a narrator, we'll let everyone know what sort of voice is needed to play the part.

OK...so...what kind of software would we need, assuming you decide to do a voice pack?

If the time comes, we'll let you know. There's little point to go into the details at this stage since this hasn't even been confirmed yet.
