1  The Hero6 Project / Hero6 Discussion / Re: About the Members... on: May 09, 2006, 01:40:23 PM
Name: Ianfe
Position: Plot Admin, Music Admin (temp)

THE TALE OF IANFE
(Who was not so brave as Sir Lancelot, or half as chaste as Galahad. Who nearly stood up to the vicious chicken of Bristol, who personally wet himself at the Battle of Badon Hill...)

I actually got my start with another QfG related project contemporary to Hero6. It was called QfG6 and, believe it or not, it had a LOT in common with Hero6. I don't really know why or how, as by the time I got it the group itself was already established. This was in late 1998, or early 1999 if I remember correctly.

From the beginning, I've been involved with plot AND music, although my participation has been much stronger in Plot. Music dpt has only got two or three compositions from me (there are too many people more talented than me in Music).

Well, after approximately one year in QfG6, the decision was made to merge with Hero6. From then on, I've been a happy camper here. I think it was in the summer of 2001 that I got promoted to Admin, after doing the first major rewrite/reorg of the plot.

PERSONAL INFO?

Ummm..... Well, my real name's Ian. I'm from Caracas, Venezuela and I majored in Biology in college. Akthough I worked in Marine Biology for years (since I was 15), my favorite area is bioinformatics and computer modelling of natural phenomena.

I've worked in Procter & Gamble for the last two years, relegating my scientific vocation to a hobby (have you ever heard of a guy who does research in the weekends for fun? Well now you have!). This summer (2006) I'll move to sunny California in the US of A to study an MBA in UCLA.

My other hobbies are digital art (as can be seen from my webpage), boxing, capoeira and music (d'oh!) - I've studied classical guitar for 10 years and play the bass and lead vocals in a band. In other words, I don't sleep much.

We at H6 do not appreciate meaningless soliciting (otherwise known as spamming). This is the 2nd disruptive attempt from you, Ibanezerg. Try a third one and you'll be banned.

If you feel like you can contribute to the team, apply privately like everyone else. You are not special.

... and, by the way, the last thing we're trying to do here is to start a "legit gaming company". None of us has the time or interest in becoming a company that "games".

This topic is now locked.

Interesting. I always thought that a person has great difficutly reducing their accent if English isn't their primary language as a child.
Ah, Lazygamer... you and I should talk sometime. Most people from English-speaking countries can't tell English is not my primary language.

Corsair, you'd best find a way to rephrase this comment or change it altogether. What you originally wrote was NOT Kosher

Heya Amnesiac, glad to have you back among us.

In terms of percentage of completion, experience has taught us not to release numbers like that. I can tell you, however, that the game has grown ENORMOUSLY in the last 5 years, as well as undergone one or two revolutionary changes (for the better).

For the same reason, I can't give you an estimated date of release. I *can* tell you, however, that we have an internal date we're shooting for (albeit in a relaxed manner). I think that's much more than you've ever heard coming from us.

I don't know if mainstream media will be at all interested in Hero6 when it comes out. Personally, I'd definitely like the recognition, but I doubt it will amount to more than a blurb or two on gaming sites. From what I can tell (I don't know much about this), Hero6 is kind of an underground cult thing. You can expect us to make every effort to get this thing out among the masses, though, so who knows what will come about? With Swift making such an excellent PR job, anything's possible!

Last but not least, the topic of a new demo has been discussed lately, but I haven't heard of a decision to develop a new one. Problem is, after the demos we shipped out, we realized that it would be hard to make a more fun demo without giving away parts of the game we think are crucial, plus demos actually take a lot of time to put together... time that could be spent developing the game. You see, demos have to be 100% beta-tested, fool-proof, and with no hanging threads. That's harder to do than one would think.

There is a demo-ish game you can download, which was an Apri Fool's joke Hero6 played upon our friends, with the help of other Fan-game projects. It has sprites from our game, as well as backgrounds from the game (along with sprites and backgrounds from other projects). It's called Hero of Infamous Kingdoms

(that name is also a link, in case you didn't notice - click on it to download)

I hope that answers your questions, my friend. What do you think?

Hero6 > Bucket of Clams

Thank you.

This test is now at an end.

... and, seriously, when you see the MASSIVE size of the game, you'll instantly understand why it took so long to make, considering it was made by a bunch of friends in their homes ontheir spare time.

Gratz, Silverbolt. Sorry, I couldn't congratulate you before because I've been saving babies from burning buildings all over the world and continuing my research to develop a 3-dollar vaccine against cancer. It's kinda affected my work here in the office, but let's face it, I only do this to get the paycheck and fund my research. I'm gonna quit it soon, in any case, to go back to school.

and.. uh... Professor WHO? What's this character done?

Oh! I get it! You've been testing the randomness emergency service! Good thinking, Silverbolt, I better go test the system now to make sure it's working.
