1  The Hero6 Project / Official Hero6 News / Re: Design Journal Update on: March 10, 2010, 10:26:12 PM
I think its safe to say it's on life support, but its not dead.  People continue to put time and effort into Hero6, even if the future looks very grim.

I'd certainly like to see Hero6 actually released.  It's so damn close to being done too....
3  The Hero6 Project / Hero6 Discussion / Helping the development team on: December 29, 2005, 06:24:56 PM
Thanks for showing interest in helping out the Hero6 team. At this time, we really need people who are well qualified in the section to which they are applying. When we first started hardly anyone knew what they were doing. However, over the past 6 or so years, we've developed our skills. This is partly why the game has taken so long to complete. The art of 5 years ago doesn't stand up to the skills our artists now have, so we find ourselves redoing or tweaking old material. Same goes for plot. As many are aware we went through a major revision of the plot a year or so ago after analyzing it with a bit more experience. We've had several years to work on our abilities, so we expect new members to meet or exceed current quality levels. While enthusiastic applicants are always appreciated, at this time we really can only accept experienced sprite animators and programmers.

Having said that, please apply using the application page Swift provided. If the Art admins feel that you are capable of doing hero6 quality sprite work, we'd love to have you. If you don't get accepted at this juncture, you can always work on improving your skills and reapplying at a later time. It would really help to know a bit about you, such as education and experience. However, that info should go into the application and not posted here per say.

Might want to move the telemarketing topic to Off-Topic Mayhem.  Cheesy
5  The Hero6 Project / Offtopic Mayhem / Oblivion? on: November 18, 2005, 06:59:17 PM
As a student I was going to fail school. Smiley Oblivion was originally set to release the day my finals start this semester. I would have flunked all my tests. Still wish I had it sooner though.

Also, DDO wasn't made by the same people who tried to do the RTS's. It looks like they did a good job.
6  The Hero6 Project / Offtopic Mayhem / Oblivion? on: November 18, 2005, 03:52:04 AM
Ahhh Oblivion, I've been following it's progress for about a year now. I recently spent $1500 upgrading my computer just in preperation for Oblivion. I'm not kidding, I've been so excited about it I made sure I had a top-of the line comptuer so that I could max every performace setting on the game. Even bought surround sound speakers. Unforunately, now it looks like April before we can play. You see, they officially announced it was pushed back until their companies second quarter. The game is already done, but I guess during the first quarter, their profits have sucked. Releasing the game now would only bring their profits to slightly above average. It's better for them on paper and in the market to show a horrible quarter, followed by their best quarter ever. Their playing a financial game of thier own, and using Oblivion as the tool. They know it'll sell millions of copies, they are just sitting on it until it's best for them to release it. We'll have to be patient and play D&D Online until then.. (DDO should be out in a month or so I believe)
7  The Hero6 Project / Official Hero6 News / Halloween Contest Winners on: November 17, 2005, 02:56:10 PM
Let me first say, the entries this year were excellent. We greatly enjoyed reading them and it was a tough choice narrowing it down. Honestly, many more than the ones below were worthy of game placement, but we didn't have room for all of them. So without further delay the Winners by vote are.... (drum roll)

In First Place- Almirena

Here lies the unfortunate Joss
Whose tomb is now covered with moss
His last tooth he swallowed
And death swiftly followed -
Though we told him and TOLD him to floss.

In Second Place- dizzcity

Here lies random enemy number one
who fell in battle to the heros fun
Tis a sad sight to see
we kill so easily
For the loot, armor, and weapons that they don.

And in Third Place- ReishVedaur

R.I.P. Somnambule
(We Hope)

Our surprise to you is that each top 3 entry will be in hero6! Congratulations to the winners and thank you so much to everyone who took the time to submit an entry.

9  The Hero6 Project / Official Hero6 News / One final update on: November 17, 2005, 05:26:25 AM
Ianfe is being a great help to me right now. RL has been crazy and my freetime has suffered. By no means have I stepped down as Plot Admin or Creative Leader, I just don't have the time to do all the micromanaging I used to. Now I spend the free time I do have overseeing things in general and doing the smaller stuff as I can.
10  The Hero6 Project / Hero6 Discussion / What did you think of the Halloween Contest? on: November 07, 2005, 04:40:55 AM
No problem. Go right ahead Smiley
11  The Hero6 Project / Official Hero6 News / Uncle Ianfe is taking a break! (already!?) on: July 16, 2005, 03:06:07 AM
I guess that means I'll have to step it up as well. Ianfe just happened to take his vacation just as I am coming back from mine. What great timing for you all  angel Mwahahahaha

I won't even begin to try to understand......
13  The Hero6 Project / Hero6 Discussion / Hero6 direction? on: June 26, 2005, 04:26:56 AM
Glad you asked Smiley Let me try to answer some of these questions. Swift already gave you a breakdown of who is in charge. Hero6 always has, and always will be, a democracy. This is no single person's project, though many of us have been here from day one (myself included). The real "leadership" in hero6 comes from those people best able to motivate and organize others to complete work.

Things haven't changed too much internally over the past 6 years. We have had quite a few changes, but all of them have been for the better. The game is still going to feel like an old QfG style game, but due to legal reasons we can't make it too close. Thus, no hero marching tune Sad

I'd like to say that I am very happy with where hero6 is at this point in time. While it's taken us a while to get here, I believe that the finished product of the game will be something we all will be proud of. All of our composers are top-notch; we have plenty of amazing all-original music. A team of talented artists has given us some amazing art. The major shake-up has been in the plot, which I feel has been solidified into something much more firm than what we had a couple years ago. And as to not leave out our programmers- we have some very talented people in programming who put a lot of time into piecing everything together. We couldn't do it without them.

While 6 years has been a long time in making a game, we really all started this as amatures. We started as a group of people who wanted to make a game, though hardly any of us had skills. The plot was linear and simple, the programers were learning as they went along, and our artists were mostly people who had only sketched here and there but wanted to contribute nonetheless. As we've worked on hero6 over the years, we keep realizing that the work we did years ago needs to be redone, as it now lacks the same level of skill our new material has. Thus, dialogues have been rewritten as our writers have grown more skilled. Backgrounds have been redrawn as artists have had more practice. And even in programming, we've gained more capabilities as our programers realize new features they can impliment.

I hope this goes to answer some of your questions. As always, we are eager to answer our fan's requests Smiley
14  The Hero6 Project / Hero6 Discussion / Should Hero6 have a voice pack? on: June 10, 2005, 09:55:14 PM
Good analogy. Seriously though, if they are able to coordinate this to professional standards, then I'd be very impressed.

I classify under someone of "major importance" right?  Tongue
