Title: New Spells
Post by: Pwincess on January 12, 2005, 10:05:40 PM
Are there any new spells which we should add to hero7?  For example classes like the wizard/theifs could cast a sleep spell on the enemy...

I think most of the combat spells are good enough: there is plenty of variety of ways in which we can fry our enemy.

Sleep would be redundant as we already have Dazzle, Calm, and others.

The addition of some kind of summon spells would be the only kind of spells that are not already in the game in one way or another.

What about necromancy spells?  :P

What type of necromancy spells would you be referring to? If you are referring to a "Raise Dead"-type spell, I believe that it would put a negative connotation on the hero. A summon spell could be used in a similar fashion and I feel it would be better fitting for the game to limit the spell arsenal to the "possitive." I can't think of any spells that would be fitting under the necromancy catagory.

On the same idea as the Druid, it would be reasonable to add shape-shifting spells and spells that would summon assistance from animals.

The longer I think about this, the more I think we need better FIRE spells. Flame dart is just not powerful enough for a great wizard.

Let's not forget about WIT. If we have a new hero, he will need to become a Wizard, rather than just a magic user.

Summoning a meteor strike on the enemy might be interesting...

Is the Hero6 hero a Wizard or Magic User? What spells are available in Hero6? I just want to know so we have an idea where we're starting from.

Now that would be giving some of the hero6 magic away, wouldn't it  :P

Lets say that there will be a mage  ^_^  *hint* *hint*

Can you at least tell me which, if any, of the spells from QfG will show up in Hero6?

lol, the answer is no, no, no

I can tell you that all the spells have been finalised for Hero6 and have already been implemented into the alpha  ^_^

How about this? By the way, this is my own idea..kinda.

Shadow Bite

This spell creates a microscopic black hole in the heart of the target, consuming it's flesh instantaneously. However, the spell requires so much energy to focus, that, if used while tired or wounded, can kill the caster. Also, the spell cannot be cast quickly, making it impractical when fighting against a large group.

Interesting spell suggestion. It sounds like it'll be under "Necromancy".

I'm wondering if we should have some kind of "Mana Burn" spell. It could be cast against any Magic User and have them lose mana and deal damage equal to the number of mana it drained. This spell could also be used by the enemy against the hero too.

MP damage, huh? I like that idea.

I've used that spell before in WarCraft 3. Neat spell.

Actually, "Shadow Bite" would be Conjuration. You'd conjure the black hole in his heart, not form it out of pure magic.

I 'think' there was a mana drain spell in Diablo

You are correct. There is a mana burn spell, but is only useable by the enemy creatures.

A spell like that would certainly be useful against enemy spell casters

Then there will be spellcasting enemies? Heh, there was only like two in the whole QFG series..the Centaur Wizards (5) and the Leopardmen (3)

Not quite true.

Night Elf's Demon Hunter's Skills

Mana Burn
Sends a bolt of negative energy that burns a target enemy unit's mana. Burned mana combusts, dealing damage to the target equal to the amount of mana burned.

Mana Burn Information
Mana Burn is best used against enemy Heroes. You can also use Mana Burn against annoying enemy spellcasters such as Priests, Sorceresses, or Shamans.

Taken from Blizzard's WarCraft 3 Strategy Guide on Demon Hunters (http://www.battle.net/war3/nightelf/units/demonhunter.shtml)

Demon Hunters aren't considered as enemies and you do have the option to play as one.

We were refering to Diablo, not WarCraft 3. You are, however, correct when discussing WarCraft 3.

I see. I thought you were talking about WC 3 as you had used the name "Mana burn" while Pwincess used the name "Mana drain" when talking about Diablo, and you didn't indicate in your post that you were talking about Diablo. That was how the confusion arose.

There was the Kobald Magic-User as well... though you didn't fight him on a traditional battle screen.  And possibly not at all if you were the Thief.

There was also the Chernovy(sp?) and the Dark One cult leader.  The Maines(sp?) enemies in QFG5 cast certain spells, as well.

I stand corrected. Thank you, Striker. I forgot all about them. Though the Kobold was a boss, similar to Ad Avis or the Demon Wizard.

There was also the Wraiths. They cast spells during the battle.
