Is it necessary to show off some of my work on the forums to up my chances? Code is a whole other entity from art so I figured it wouldn't make much sense pinning it in the application.

A handful. About 2 years ago I started up with PHP so I could maintain a handmade blog and keep my hands dirty with coding, but I've done extensive C/C++, Java, VB, C#, a good bit of Python.
