At first glance I got the feeling this was related to creationism. However, the article seems to be suggesting the latest date than an ancestor to every modern person exsisted.

Yes but in those days, MMO was still a very fresh concept. These days, many games support MMO and MMOs are overrun by spoilt kids with parents who can't be bothered to deal with them.

Very true, MMOs would garner more respect if wasn't for those negative sterotypes.

Very cool, did anyone notice the streaker? Smiley

Well if you download it after they've released a patch for it(which IA has been talking about), then yes there would be less bugs.

Well that would of been 1999? People probably weren't as cynical about MMOs back then, and I doubt Lori fully understood the ramifications of a QFG MMO(ie: It'd be alot like Silverbolt described).

Or seeing how Sierra is long-dead, it could be just about the money.  Wink

Well that's the funny thing, even if is just about the money, what money is there? Sierra selling collections of their old games would be a drop in the bucket compared to selling modern mainstream titles. They also don't seem to be interested in creating new games off of these old licenses... probably because adventure games aren't high profit titles.

I think a good example of this is KQ9. Vivendi was impressed enough with it to let it survive(it doesn't tarnish reputation at all), they could have made a rule that the finished KQ9 would only be sold by Vivendi and not a free download. They didn't do this, probably because they consider it a niche title.

Oijl, you have to understand, this site is teetering on the legality scale, and giving you a link to an illegal download is just the kind of thing that could sink this project with a C&D letter. We can't help you get an illegal copy. I'm sorry, but you'll have to ask someone else.

Even without the risk of C&Ds, this site could still be shutdown for having links to illegal software.

Thy keep the rights in case they wish to profit from it in the future, and to prevent others from profiting at their expense. It's also a way to safeguard their reputation, since they don't allow others to make what might be of inferior quality and tarnish their reputation.

Well that's the logical explantion. My cynical explanation is that companies like to horde their copyrights, no matter how insignificant these copyrights have become. Wink

I've certainly downloaded KQ3, but I intend to wait for the voice pack which is due next week, before I play it. Smiley

Wow I never expected to see this. It's sad to see you go Swift.
40  The Hero6 Project / Offtopic Mayhem / Re: Can you hear this? on: June 12, 2006, 07:58:59 PM
I couldn't hear the 2nd clip without turning up my speaker alot. I can't hear the buzzing in the 1st clip. Dammit I'm 21 and have taken good care of my hearing. annoyed

Interestingly enough, these teenagers are unintentionally being courteous by having a ringtone that doesn't disturb adults.

Very cute, but the guy who made this video must be nuts to let the kitten bat at the LCD screen. What if kitty decides to whip out his claws when playing with the screen? Shocked
42  The Hero6 Project / Hero6 Discussion / Re: What do you think of the new tavern look? on: June 09, 2006, 02:17:30 AM
I like the new look, feels very warm and inviting. Also the usage of empty/full glasses of beer for forums with/without activity is an awesome idea!
43  The Hero6 Project / Offtopic Mayhem / Re: Reconstruction of Leonardo da Vinci's and Mona lisa's voices on: June 03, 2006, 08:22:02 AM
I'm still a wee bit skeptical. Saying that voice is just the dimensions of our head and throat seems too simplistic. I'd think our minds would have an effect on how we use our vocal cords. Not just accent, but our voice in general.
44  The Hero6 Project / Offtopic Mayhem / Re: Reconstruction of Leonardo da Vinci's and Mona lisa's voices on: June 02, 2006, 09:15:39 AM
So voice is mainly determined by the dimensions of the neck and head?
45  The Hero6 Project / Offtopic Mayhem / Anyone played this freeware adventure game yet? on: April 18, 2006, 05:21:21 AM
So I was thinking about this amateur adventure game I played awhile back, Five Magical Amulets. I only found out about it because I just happened to browse the Tierra game making forum at the right time and saw it mentioned. I'm not sure how many Hero6 visitors have heard of it, so I thought I should mention it. Since it's such a well made amateur adventure game I felt it shouldn't slip through the cracks. Definitly for people who liked the Kings Quest series. Smiley
